A couple years ago, my childhood friend Angie (Dowd) Frundt asked about donating a print of mine to the elementary school her children attended. The response from the kids was classic. |

If you are lucky, you have a person in your life who makes you a better human being. If you are fortunate to know such a person, you will always feel them close. I am lucky like that. And even though his physical form has long since gone, his love for life and encouraging voice remain strong and constant in my ear.
I am lucky to have had Dean Zellar in my life. This painting is my attempt to pay my respects to an unstoppable force who I had the good fortune to call my friend. Our bodies will do the best they can to not to fail us, though they will. Our time together is unknown. Our challenge, should we accept to take it, is to focus on what matters most. I will always picture Dean as a young healthy man with an infectious smile. |
